What exactly does the Evangelism Team do and why should I want to be part of it? Do they go door-to-door handing out religious tracts and telling people about Zion? Do they stand on street corners and ask people if they have been saved?
    The answer to these particular questions are NO, but the Evangelism Team does a lot of things that sometimes go unnoticed, not because they aren't important, but because they work behind the scenes and often under the radar! It would be a good thing to share our faith in appropriate ways as well as talk about Zion, but that would be the ideal thing for all of us as Christians - not just this committee.
    What the Evangelism Team does do is organize and oversee events and services that promote Zion and our faith without necessarily using words. (It was St. Francis of Assisi who once said, “Preach the Gospel always. Use words when necessary!”)
    For those of you new to Zion might recall that it was the Evangelism Team who hosted the Get to Know Zion Make Your Own Taco Lunch or the Pastor’s Coffee Event as well as the New Member Sunday reception.
    Each month the ET hosts the Senior Moments Potluck & Gathering (2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon). In the past they have organized the Summer Outdoor Worship Services and Church Picnics.
The ET makes sure Zion takes care of our commitments to the Milaca Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. They connect people who need rides to church with people who are willing to pick up Zion-bound hitchhikers and they send cards to members who are ill. The ET is continually trying to find new ways to tell the community about Zion and help Zion members to be more than just members - to be real disciples.
    Zion’s Evangelism Team could use your help, your ideas, your experience, your fresh outlook, your willingness to work a little to help Zion a lot. We meet once a month for an hour (2nd Thursday at 6:00 prior to Church Council). It is pain-free and almost always interesting and fun. If you are at all interested, please contact Pastor Blenkush.
